Knot is a free app that helps you find people near you who want to trade things or skills. We don't charge fees, we don't take a cut of your trades, and we don't run ads. The app is funded by community donations.
Trades happen directly between you and the other person — Knot isn't involved in the actual exchange. We don't ship items, hold money, verify quality, or guarantee that the other person will follow through.
To keep Knot a place people want to be, the following aren't allowed:
If you see something that breaks these rules, report it from the item, profile, or message — we'll review it.
The photos, listings, profile info, and messages you create on Knot belong to you. By posting them, you grant Knot a non-exclusive license to display them inside the app so other users can see your listings and chat with you. That's the extent of it — we don't use your content for marketing, and we don't sell it.
You're responsible for making sure you have the right to share whatever you post. Don't upload photos you don't own, copyrighted material, or other people's faces without their permission.
Knot connects people who want to trade. The actual meetup and exchange is between you and the other person, on your terms. A few notes:
We can suspend or remove your account at any time if you break these terms, behave in a way that's harmful to other users, or do anything that exposes Knot to legal risk. For clear violations (harassment, illegal items, spam) we'll usually act without warning. For ambiguous cases we'll try to give you a chance to explain.
You can delete your own account any time from Profile → Settings → Delete account. That permanently removes your profile, listings, trade history, and messages.
We work hard to keep Knot running, but we can't promise it'll be available 24/7, free of bugs, or that any specific trade or match will work out. The app is provided as-is, without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Knot is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages — including lost items, missed opportunities, or interpersonal disputes — arising from your use of the app.
If we change these terms in a meaningful way, we'll let you know in the app or by email before the changes take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Knot is organized. Any disputes that can't be resolved informally will be handled in those courts.
